Picturing the Evaluation Ecosystem – Collaborative project with Ford Foundation

Overview
The “Picturing the Evaluation Ecosystem” report, commissioned by the Ford Foundation, examines the state of equity-oriented evaluations in international cooperation. Conducted by Global Change Center, Praxis UK, and Praxis Institute for Participatory Practices, the report highlights the dominance of Global North standards and methodologies, which often marginalize Global South perspectives. It identifies structural exclusions in policy formulation, organizational practices, methodological choices, and dissemination of findings, emphasizing the need for more inclusive and context-sensitive evaluation approaches to address historical and structural power imbalances.

GENSA’s Contributions
The Gender and Equity Network South Asia (GENSA) played a crucial role in this research, collaborating with Global South partners to ensure that the often-overlooked perspectives and ideas of those from and based in the Global South were included. GENSA’s involvement helped to highlight the importance of locally led, equity-centered evaluations that prioritize the voices and knowledge of those most affected by international cooperation programs. This collaborative effort aims to promote transformative and sustainable social outcomes through more participatory and culturally relevant evaluation methods.
